A few years back, a book called The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman entered the collective conversation on how to be part of a successful romantic relationship. The premise of the New York Times best-seller is that each of us receives love and affection in 5 distinct ways. They are as follows: Words of Affirmation, Gifts, Acts of Service, Quality Time, and Physical Touch. We may respond to one of the five, or all of them to varying degrees, but it supposes that expression of love fits into these archetypes in some fashion.
In a somewhat desperate attempt to understand the inner workings of my girlfriend’s more-advanced-than-me mind, I admit to having perused the book more than once. My most recent take away was that I might be a Neanderthal and I better get to work. First… I needed to identify her love languages and figure out how to fumble through expressing my love in those specific ways. I need to reach her in the language SHE speaks and responds to. My head is swimming and Valentine’s Day is already upon us.

Physical Touch

Insisting on kissing goodnight with a mask will show her how you care deeply about her health and well-being. Wear latex gloves when she wants to hold hands in front of the TV.
